If you didn't know, I am a huge Lupe fan and support all his work. I haven't heard nor bought the album "Lasers" yet but will be buying two copies tomorrow. Rumors have been surfacing that this is Lupe's worse album, Since I haven't heard the entire album yet I am reserving my opinion until I can critique it fully. I originally wasn't going to buy the album because i was hearing such bad reviews but after watching this interview I have been re-assured that the album is well worth the 10 bucks because I believe Lupe went through to much for me not to as a fan.Lupe is Genius.

i'm bout to rap...
you know what it is? i was so openly expecting a MBDTF(kanye) type project from Lupe, that when it was nothing like it i quit.
i purchased Lasers last Thursday night. i sat taking shots of Patron, traumatized from a bad eyebrow waxing, trying to find "The Cool" in it. there is none.
it's not that it's not a good album. it's more that it seems identity-less. one thing that has made Lupe so Lupe was that no matter what, you heard Lupe. the lyrical content is still there... but it is masked by odd "poppy" beats and random delivery. i respect all he said in the interview about growth, and finding himself, and i totally understand the politics he came into contact with from his label.. but Lasers is unexplainable... and not in a good way. it's missing genuine flow, order, and the thing we subconsiously seek in music; the story.
maybe the pedestal was placed too high(in my mind) but i just wanted a culmination of all Lupe has been, not Fergie style rhythym and awkwardness.
=).... but imma still listen doe. cuz i spent like 17 bucks on it.
